As I was mopping today, I began to meditate on a scripture. I only intended to hit the high spots and then realized it would be a good time for a deep clean while Millie is at the vet. As weird as it may sound, I rarely turn on my lights or even open the blinds in my den and kitchen during the day time because my house is so light (or so I thought). Today, though, I decided to shed some light on the work that was before me and even put on my reading glasses. Quite frankly it frightened me a little to see what all I had missed. At a quick glance and not enough light all “appeared” ok. However, when the house was illuminated, it didn’t take long to realize, I still had a bit of work to do. That’s when this scripture came alive.
[click_to_tweet tweet=”Psalm 139:23-24: 23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” quote=”Psalm 139:23-24: 23 Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” theme=”style6″]
I prayed the scary prayer a little over a week ago. I asked the Lord to illuminate “this house” and show me what needed to be cleaned up to make me fit as a temple of the Holy Spirit. Just like cleaning my house today, it blew me away at the amount of work to be done. The good news is that once I was willing to be honest with Him and myself, allowing Him to work in me, He has been showing up like gangbusters to do the heavy lifting. Let’s TURN ON THE LIGHTS AND OPEN THE BLINDS!
Prayer
Abba, search me and know me, test me and know my anxious thughts. See if there is an offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. In Jesus name, amen.
