This morning as I was checking my bank account I got mad at myself. I’ve been trying so hard to be a good steward with my finances, so where did I go wrong??
As I went through all my transactions, I realized that my spending habits didn’t change, it just that everything is getting more expensive. When dealing with inflation, we talk about a lot material things: finances, politics, jobs, etc…..but what isn’t discussed much is the mental and emotional toll it takes on a person.
It’s easy to get angry and stressed, trust me, I went through the whole 5 stages of grief while looking over my bank account this morning. It was at this moment when Holy Spirit started working within my heart.
First He reminded me that I am still blessed beyond measure!! (I had been in the depth of darkness and despair for years while in my addiction). So in times like this, I focus on what the Lord has already done in my life and that I must still have a spirit of gratitude.
Second, it’s bringing a season of reflection. What are some things that I can do without? One thing I can do is get rid of streaming services ($$$) and spend that time in His Word (Free!!). I need to go through my list of conveniences and really search my heart on if they are truly bringing Glory to God.
Finally, He reminded me that He will provide all my needs according to His riches in Glory!! Even though my flesh may be uncomfortable for a season, I know that I’m not without. Psalms 23 is real!!
So during this time of national instability, let us who are “Called by His Name” step back and adjust. Let us tune in with the Holy Spirit through The Word and prayer to search our hearts and reveal what we can do without. Let us continue to be in an “attitude of gratitude” so that others can see the Light of Christ within us. If we take this time to fully surrender to Christ…..in turn He will give us a peace that surpasses all understanding. God Bless!!
PRAYER
Thank you Father God, that through the blood of Jesus we have access to all of the provision we need in this life and the one to come. Help me to keep your perspective in these hard times. To keep my gratitude flowing and remember you are my Shepherd and provider. In Jesus name. Amen.
