The freedom of being ALL of who God intended us to be, takes time. Like a caterpillar who stuffs itself full of all that life has to offer, one day it stops, becomes still, and gets transformed. Living in the fullness of God’s love comes at the expense of losing who we have always been. The caterpillar could not change itself, it only could become all it was meant to be — by being stilled. Sometimes God allows circumstances into our life to STILL US in order to get our attention so that we can RENEW OUR MINDS. “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but be a new and different person with a fresh newness in all you do and think. Then you will learn from your own experience how His ways will really satisfy you.” Romans 12:2 NLT — God asks us to RESET our minds, and focus on HIM and listen to His voice. NASA uses this simple technique to reboot astronauts who will face danger. Simply say outloud the countdown of numbers 54321 and say “I’m so excited to watch God move through this situation!” As an EXCITED overcomer, I overcame the most powerful enemy of all –myself — my grumbling —my worrying—and fears! Laugh at yourself and move on! How silly to fear that someone may not like you if you say “NO”. Without an explanation, NO is a complete sentence. Life as a desperate people pleaser came with the burden of being liked, recognized and valued. My old self preservation method was to defend my ways, thoughts, and automatic attitudes or assumptions. The abundant life in Christ comes when we humble ourselves before God and admit to the One who knows all, that we are sorry for making the opinions of others more important than who He says we are. We are His beloved, as we are, and He is constantly at work refining us. May the lyrics in the song deeply register in your soul. “I know the Author of my story, and He is mine, yes He is mine. See, NOW I’m a new creation in Christ, the old is gone, there’s new life —- I live by faith, not by sight. There’s a new name written down in GLORY, and it’s mine, yes its mine. I am who I am, because the I am tells me who I am.” When doubt, fear, or hesitation begins to creep in RESET your BRAIN 54321 “I am so excited to be alive today and I get to tell my brain what to think!” Trash in, trash out! Before you go to bed give your brain a command “I am so excited to go to bed and have a renewing, restful sleep. Brain, I am commanding you to trash all thoughts that came into my mind today that do not line up with the Word of God.” AMEN Read your GRATITUDE list before you slip into that deep sleep and pray. “Lord I am so thankful for my salvation, for my family and friends. Thank You for Your lavish love, provision, healing and all the unopened gifts You have for me! Bring to my mind the words you want my mind to store as I sleep, in Jesus name – AMEN” Our Father commanded “be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt! For remember, the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 TLB — Walk confidently in the fullness of the faith you were given. BELIEVE that you stand righteous before God, and that your name was placed in the Lamb’s book of life the moment you accepted Jesus as Lord!
It does not matter what the Liar may be whispering in your ear, you belong to God Almighty and He has given you authority to speak the name of Jesus and cause the devil to flee. Being who He created us to be is a life long journey. BEGIN to IMAGINE what tomorrow will look like! Turn the news off and repeat the exercise NASA uses to train astronauts. RESET the FIGHT OR FLIGHT ADRENALINE to FLOW into something grand, into something astronomical, into something extravagant! 54321 “I’m so excited that when Jesus comes back He will find me thriving and living the abundant life He planned for me!” Choose to accept the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Jesus has already provided us with everything we need and He is waiting for us to take it by faith. Be EXCITED and find great joy in simply “being His” —Out of the overflow of His love —- we bear the fruit of the Spirit of God. We become kind, loving, joyful, at peace, patient with others and ourselves, and self-controlled. I haven’t fully become all that my Father intends me to be, but none of us ever will –until we fly like a butterfly up to meet Jesus in the sky, fully sanctified in our glorified bodies. Our joy journey requires incremental progress NOT perfection. When the Liar whispers you do not please God, you are unworthy, and unwanted. — shout back with authority “In the name of JESUS no lie, or weapon formed against me can change who I am in Christ, Satan be gone! Freedom in Christ requires lots of boldness to cast out our own demon of feeling unworthy of God’s immense love.
We are called to love ourselves as God loves us, imperfections and all. We all miss the mark and fall short, we doubt, and at times we may even lack faith in ALL that His Word tells us. Humbly, we turn to our Father and ask Him to forgive us for any unbelief, and with one foot in front of the other, we move into freedom, when we renew our minds, reset our brains and change our thinking. To keep our sanity, to remain clear with who we are in Christ, we deny the devil and shut down his accusing voice immediately! Obediently, we capture every thought, and we command our brain to cast out all thoughts, hints, whispers that do not reflect who we are in Christ—into the trash! 54321 “I’m EXCITED about all the Lord is going to teach me today!” Psalm 118:24 TLB “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” AMEN God is always at work and His Holy Spirit is moving in hearts! I was so excited to be reunited with people who walk in the power of God. On Sunday August 28, 2022 Jan Hicks traveled to Chapala from Alabama to renew our faith in what God can do in the lives of broken people! Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways.” When we DESIRE a thing strongly, our Lord gives us those desires that bring Him glory, not ourselves. Get up, make the bed, feel accomplished. Go to bathroom, look into the mirror, make eye contact with spirit, raise your hand and give yourself a HIGH FIVE!
