What do we do when the season of family and unity is upon us and our family is anything but togetherness?
Once again, the season of Thanksgiving is here. This comes after a shift in the political events of 2025 and you may be outcasted or blasted by family and friends. It is okay. Jesus said that in the last days that people would become lovers of themselves, proud and boastful (2 Tim 3:2-5). Do not lose heart, Beloved. These things have to come to pass.
In the meantime, how do we get thru the holiday season with heartbreak and un-invites to the dinners? Volunteer. Volunteer your time to those whose homes are in the streets, parking lots or wooded areas. Visit the shut-ins or the widows, the orphans. This is what true religion is; what true relationship with the Father can be!
James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
You have marching orders, and this is part of the commission, to serve. We serve even when our hearts are bruised because there are others whose hearts may be broken. We do not sit in self-pity but self-examination. Another day on earth is another opportunity to share Christs’ love.
Christianity calls us to live an uncomfortable life. This often means in relationship as well as health and wealth. We are not called to be hate-filled and rude, but kind and pure (Philippians 4:8)
Our Lord and Savior was kind and pure, even thinking of The Father’s forgiveness on the accusers at HIS trial. Jesus was beaten and mocked and never broke into anger or smiting the accusers. How often do we stay quiet and in prayer over our enemies when face to face with insults? Are we pure in response to those who share the dinner table with us? What about those who don’t?
This Thanksgiving the most important thing to give, is Jesus!
